Safety first: Protecting our people at Hannecard

At Hannecard, safety is more than a policy or a set of rules. It is a core part of how we work every day. Our goal is simple - everyone goes home safe at the end of the day. We are committed to a zero-accident mindset and believe that achieving that goal takes the attention, participation, and commitment of everyone on our team.

Building a safe workplace every day

Safety starts with the everyday actions we take to protect ourselves and our co-workers.

Employees are expected to use the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) for the job or task at hand. Whether working with machinery, coatings, material handling equipment, or other equipment throughout the facility, using the right PPE is an important first step in reducing risk.

Our employees also participate in annual Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety training, helping ensure everyone stays informed about workplace safety requirements and best practices.

Safety is an ongoing conversation. Our monthly safety committee meetings provide an opportunity to discuss concerns, review incidents, identify potential hazards, and look for ways to make our workplace safer.

When incidents or safety concerns occur, they are immediately reported and followed by corrective action. The goal isn't simply to address what happened, but to understand why it happened and determine what can be done to prevent it from happening again.

Keeping safety top of mind

A strong safety culture requires continuous attention. Throughout the year, Hannecard conducts monthly safety campaigns that highlight different safety topics and encourage employees to stay aware of potential risks in their daily work.

We are also continuing to invest in employee safety training, including upcoming First Aid and CPR training.

Equipment safety is a key part of our program. Cranes and forklifts are inspected daily to ensure they remain safe, reliable, and ready for operation.

Together these practices create a safer working environment for everyone.

Everyone has a role in safety

Safety is everyone’s responsibility and our employees play an important role by reporting safety concerns and near misses when they see them. Near-miss reporting gives us an opportunity to investigate potential hazards before they result in an injury or incident.

Once an issue is identified, the team follows through with corrective action. This proactive approach helps us learn from potential problems and continuously improve the way we work.

Most importantly, it encourages employees to speak up and give us an opportunity to address the issue before it becomes an even bigger problem.

Preventing problems before they happen

One example of our proactive approach is Hannecard's monthly safety walkthrough program.

During these walkthroughs, safety-related observations are documented, investigated, and addressed. Issues are followed through to correction rather than simply being noted and forgotten.

This helps to move beyond reacting to accidents and instead focus on identifying and eliminating potential hazards before they cause an injury.

For Hannecard, that's an important part of working towards a goal of zero accidents.

Safety benefits everyone

A strong safety culture doesn't just protect our employees, it benefits the entire business and our customers.

When people feel safe coming to work, it contributes to a more positive workplace and stronger employee morale. And when potential incidents are prevented, we can avoid unnecessary costs, production disruptions, and delays.

For customers, that means fewer interruptions and a stronger ability to maintain reliable production and delivery schedules.

Ultimately, a safe workplace is a better workplace—for employees, customers, and Hannecard as a whole.

Continuing to improve

Our commitment to safety doesn't stop with meeting requirements. We will continue looking for ways to improve.

Through ongoing training, monthly safety campaigns, equipment inspections, safety walkthroughs, employee involvement, and corrective actions, we will continue working toward our goal of zero accidents.

At Hannecard, protecting our people is one of our most important responsibilities. When everyone takes ownership of safety, we create a workplace where people can do their jobs with confidence—and go home safely at the end of every day.
